A Perfect Day in Copenhagen

After almost two full months in Copenhagen, I can confidently say this is what perfection looks like. From the intricately manicured gardens to the endless storefronts lining the cobblestone streets, Copenhagen truly has it all. I’ve eaten, shopped, and admired my way through this wonderful city, and now I’m here to share the ultimate guide to all things Cope

Let’s start our day in true Dane fashion: with a cold plunge. I feel so accomplished when I wake up before the sun, ride my bike down to the docks, and meet up with all the friendly faces of the Cold Dip Club. The docks of Nordhavn are the perfect spot for this ritual. A quick dip in and out is more than enough for me:)

If you’re looking for a workout to add to the 10k+ steps you’ll inevitably get, I recommend Rama or The Pilates Club for a reformer class. Nordic Strong is another favorite—born in Copenhagen and unlike anything else I’ve tried. The space, lights, and energy make you feel like you’re training inside the Northern Lights. I love the Sculpt class that mixes mat Pilates with the ski machine. They even just opened their first U.S. studio in NYC, so you can try it there too! And if you want something more low-key, Dóttir is perfect for hot yoga or mat Pilates.

Post-dip, a hot matcha and traditional Danish breakfast are in order. Right around the corner is my favorite breakfast spot, Atelier September. There are two locations—the more popular one in the city center—but I prefer the one situated in Nordhavn: less crowded and cozier. I typically order a hot matcha with oat milk and a “Morning Plate” with Comté, sourdough, egg, butter, and jam. Honestly, this breakfast can do no wrong.

Two other breakfast favorites of mine are Apotek 57 and Studio X Kitchen. Both are spectacular and truly the crème de la crème of Danish morning spots. Make sure to try at least one Kardemummabullar (better known as a Cardamom Bun).

Moving on with our day, I would recommend taking the metro (super easy, clean, and safe—just make sure you buy a ticket or you’ll get a $175 fine; I fell victim on my second day here) to Kongens Have, or the King’s Garden. This beautiful park is perfect for a light stroll admiring Rosenborg Castle, reading a book in the softest grass you’ll ever touch, or sitting on a bench for the perfect people-watching spot. I love coming to the garden whenever I have free time. It’s so calming and really makes you think about how much love and joy are around you.

Around the garden is an abundance of shopping. I could make an ongoing list, but I’ll just give you a few of my favorites. Tekla for bedding, robes, and towels in perfect Danish design. Lié Studio for the most curated, well-made jewelry you can find—so unique, everyone will want what you’re wearing. Baum und Pferdgarten is one of my go-tos for a good pair of jeans or a blazer—amazing pieces straight from the runways of Copenhagen Fashion Week. Finally, to complete the look, head to Naked CPH for the perfect shoe. Another recommendation in that area is New Mags: the curation and display of coffee table books are to die for.

All that shopping works up an appetite. For lunch, I would head over to Bottega Barlie. Wow is the only thing I have to say—everything on the menu is impeccable. Absolutely a must. Mad & Kaffe has a one-of-a-kind chicken caesar sandwich with a side of fries; I call it an elevated girl lunch. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper but still delicious, Fabro has tasty pasta for such a good price (I also can’t not recommend both the focaccia and tiramisu).

For a little intellectual moment to add to the cultured girl you already are, a few museums stand out to me. The Danish Design Museum is so unique—the chair exhibition is insanely cool. Plus, they have a yummy café and a perfect outdoor space with the funkiest lounge chairs. The SMK is for those who want a touch more of a classical art moment. There’s currently a “Surrealism on Paper” exhibition that I thought was astoundingly worthwhile. The best museum, though, is the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, located about 40 minutes by train outside of Copenhagen. This may have to be a whole-day affair, but it is SO worth it. The space, grounds, and setup are art in themselves. It’s the most special museum I’ve been to—and trust me, I’ve been to a lot.

For the final meal of the day, I have two recommendations. Both offer family-style menus where you can pick and choose several dishes for the table. Delphine features Mediterranean cuisine with the chicest interior, while Esmée— referred to as Copenhagen’s “hottest luxury restaurant”—truly lives up to the title. Both meals blew me away, and I’ll definitely be back as a visitor.

To finish off your perfect Danish day, let’s have a drink (or a few)! My favorite spot is Jojo, which has multiple locations around the city. The drink selection, prices, interior, and people are exactly what you need. After a few drinks, if you’re feeling up for it, I recommend heading to Søpavillonen—my personal favorite club with the perfect playlist, ambiance, and vibe. I’ve even heard it’s Drake’s go-to when he’s in Copenhagen…. What’s a healthy lifestyle without a little balance and fun?

If you ever get the honor of visiting Copenhagen, enjoy every single second of it! It truly is the epitome of what a city should be. As a Forza girl, you’ll fit right in with the effortlessly perfect Scandi girls<3

Xoxo, D
